All Quiet on the Western Front (1979)

Most war movies would tend to talk about World War II. They'll talk about Hitler's Germany and the likes of what happened then. I'd agree that the second world war was more 'spectacular'.
But there was no World War II in 1930. And this was when the original movie was made, and this is why it can talk about the War effort without any hint of what's coming up.
The explosions and effects and real. Bone chilling real. These were not special effects. And it makes this movie so great to watch just for it being so ahead of its times.
Thats movie making for you. This movie is a great education! Waiting to catch Paths of Glory though..
